She is a much sought-after DP and has an impressive resumé covering Feature Films, TV Series, TV Commercials, Documentary and Installations….and much more. Katie’s whirlwind career hasn’t taken a breather from the moment she stepped up to shoot. Find out what it takes to achieve that level of success at this masterclass.

This one-dayer is perfect for anyone wanting to learn how to go about shooting long form narrative, how to prepare yourself and how to get it on the screen at a consistently award-winning level. And there’s more to it than that. Katie will also cover how her methods apply to shooting TVC’s, Music Video and Documentary.

Katie will explain her process from the moment she lands a job. The pre-production pathway, how to set yourself up before shooting begins, collaborations with her principal crew, working with the colourist in creating the look and making LUTs. The key to success and a great result, is in preparation. Then she will screen and go through several examples of productions she has worked on to give real-life accounts of how scenes were planned, shot and how challenges were met and overcome.

We will be joined during the day by frequent collaborators of Katie, colourist CJ Dobson (MoodLab) and 1st AC Grant Sweetnam, who will join in on the conversation to discuss process.

There will be an ARRI Mini LF production camera kit on hand with a full selection of lenses to allow for practical demonstrations of what Katie considers when choosing her shooting package for a show. She will run through testing set ups and discuss how composition, light and lens choices can influence the feel of the shots.

It is extremely beneficial having access to someone like Katie, and the time to discuss the nuance of her choices. It’s a great opportunity to learn from professional experience and avoid trying to figure it out on your own shoots.

Get a jump ahead in this rare masterclass. And spend a day with a superb DP who loves sharing her knowledge. ShotClass is committed to providing a welcoming experience and access to events for everyone.

Lunch and drinks are included. We cater for dietary requirements which can be noted on the registration form.

After the masterclass, you are invited to join us for a mixer in the bar where you can share your thoughts, meet with others and ask Katie questions more informally. It’s great way to relax after the day.

Ok, this might be a slight exaggeration
