Have you ever wished you could ‘jump’ on the wheels and execute an incredible camera move using state of the art technology? To be able to accurately frame shots with precision and repeat the move over and over again reliably? To have complete control of the camera move with no unwanted corrections from the pan handle or lag from a joystick?
This one day Intensive is offering top shelf gear and crew all day. It’s insane. You’ll kick yourself if you miss it.
This is your golden opportunity! Learn from highly experienced wheels camera operators during an intensive one day class that will cover all you need to know before you get started practising for perfection. Once you have picked up the gift of wheels operating, you will wonder how you ever did without it. Operating the wheels has become somewhat a lost art form over recent years in Australia, and those who can do it are in demand. That could be you.
This Intensive is staged in collaboration between ShotClass and The Vision House who will provide cameras, lenses and accessories. You will learn using both manual geared heads such as the ARRIHEAD 2 and Panahead, and Remote Head systems including the ARRI SRH-3 and DJI Ronin 2 which will be mounted on cranes and other moving platforms. We will have exercises in place to quickly train you the right way. Small class sizes and plenty of gear means LOTS of time doing hands-on training for your hands and brain in this powerful magic. There will be many tricks of the trade passed on that make learning easier than you think.
The formidable crew includes wheels operators: Warwick Field ACS and Marty Smith SOC, Barry Malseed from The Vision House who is an expert cinematographer and wealth of knowledge, Key Grip and brilliant crane op Dean Garro from Grip Equip (and just about his whole inventory of dollies and cranes), Steve ‘Robbo’ Robinson: dolly/crane grip and remote head aficionado, Grant Sweetnam: 1st AC and Ronin 2 tech, Cecelia Hedditch: remote head tech, …..and plenty of other experts. Don’t miss out on taking advantage of all this knowledge and expertise! Who knows when we will offer this again.
ShotClass is grateful for the support from Grip Equip, ARRI, Panavision and VA Hire.

What a combo of instructors to help you learn how to operate and work with the wheels, both remotely and manually.
Warwick has been on the wheels for over 30 years and has worked with just about every remote head system out there. He has operated many films and series using geared heads for both International and Australian productions. His experience also takes in shooting hundreds of hours of aerials for drama, sport and wildlife on the wheels, and this helped raise his ability to the next level.
Marty is an ace wheels operator along with being renowned for his work with Steadicam. His body of work includes countless TVC’s and drama productions. Marty has a great knack of explaining complex things easily.
Between them you won’t be left needing answers. There’s not much they haven’t encountered from behind the wheels.
