I've spent most of my working life in Broadcast and perfecting that to a point of working where as a Broadcast Engineer for household names like NEP, Gravity EMG, Pacific Broadcast and CT Live Events. I've worked for clients Fox Sports, Channel 7, Channel 9, Channel 10, Endemol Shine, Jam Tv, World Surf League.
I started my broadcast life as an ingest operator as everything went digital and server based at 7BCM in docklands, branching across to news early on as a RF Engineer working on ENG/SNG microwave and satellite link gear travelling Australia for sunrise live cross content. I've shot as a camera operator, and for the last 10 years have been working busily away in a freelance capacity around the world on the surfing and in Australia in our biggest Tier 1 sports Cricket, AFL, NBL, A-league, NRL, Horse Racing Spring Carnival, Racing.com, Cadel Evans Road Race, the F1, Moto GP and Tv shows, Deal or no Deal, Tipping Point, Andy Lee's The 100, The Chase, House of Wellness & The Good Friday Appeal as well as 7 News, 10 News and Sunrise / The Project talkshows etc.
I've been able to learn and adapt to the new SMPTE 2110 standard where everything is happening in the iP networking world and this change has allowed the client to operate the production out of a Hub in Melbourne or Sydney and utilizing a limited crew out at the stadium for vision flows forward and back depending on where commentators are etc.
I have a love for everything screen and television and was able to commission a TV show the full 13 episode season "My Drive" on Channel 31 back in 2012 as a sole operator, editor, audio engineer and colorist. Currently looking for a new challenge and slowly following my dream of taking the plunge into the film industry and learning and adapting in the hope of one day being a confident cinematographer.
To be clear, 2nd AC is currently where I'm happy to be in the film world till I gain more knowledge. I feel confident in Data Wrangling (Have a firm understanding of Codecs, HDR workflows and Luts) and Video Split operation is also right up my alley.
There will be some difference between the Broadcast and Film worlds but believe with my knowledge I'll be able to bridge those gaps quickly with the right guidance around me.
So if you feel I could be a valuable asset to your next project, please reach out.
